INDICATORS OF PROGRESS

Out of the Six-Step Strategy comes a necessary question: How do we know if we are really being effective in achieving our Vision? Although it is difficult to measure "the heart change" of people, the intention of the following quantifiable indicators is that they would serve as monitors for the spiritual progress of our congregation as we are challenged to examine:
                         > What ambitions true disciples have,
                         > How disciples react in relationship to otherss, and
                         > How disciples invest themselves in their passions for Jesus Christ.

  • Evangelism---The number of lives transformed by knowing and receiving God's saving grace by faith in Jesus Christ. The Scriptures teach that this transformation is to be followed by baptism into the church, the universal Body of Christ (I Corinthians 12:13).
  • Membership-The Bible makes it clear that when a person is spiritually transformed he/she is also adopted into a "Family" to function within the Christian Community rather than be isolated. Therefore, each new believer is encouraged to become an active, participating member in local expressions (Hebrews 10:25) of the world-wide Church.
  • Attendance:
       a)  In worship services.
       b)  In Bible study & discipleship training events to develop long-term patterns of spiritual growth.
       c)  In the Discovering Life #101- #501 Classes to train people to become contagious Christians.
  • Ministry---The number of people who are identifying and exercising their spiritual gifts in various ministries "for the common good" (I Corinthians 12:7) of the local fellowship.
  • Missions---The number of people involved in mission ministries and trips, as well as missions financial support.
  • Financial giving---In response to God's amazing grace, we should be generous investors of our financial resources into the local fellowship so that the work of God can flourish here and around the world. The regular discipline of giving tithes and additional offerings underscores the Lordship of Jesus Christ over our material resources.
